HISTORY
Orin was constructed by the Adamantine Arrows of the Fourth World. It was common practice for the Awakened to use golems to bolster the defense systems of their cities, and to do menial labor for their masters. They were viewed as autonomous tools, and the thought of them being treated as though they were living beings because they possessed sentience was inconceivable. Orin was meant to be one of the golems in charge of defending the Tower.

In open defiance to the ways of the rest of his kind, Aidan Clayce – by then an influential member of the Adamantine Arrows – insisted on treating Orin as though he was one of their own. The Voidseeker personally took charge of educating Orin and teaching him how to be human. He also consistently insisted that the two of them were friends: it did not matter if he happened to be man, and Orin was an artificial construct. Orin, in turn, became incredibly loyal to Aidan, and did everything that he could for the man all the way until the Fourth World collapsed.

Orin, together with Riley Falner, became one of the first Malice Kings after Aidan established in the Methuselah in the Fifth World. He continued to travel with his two companions all the way until it became evident that the Omphalos, the main power base of the Methuselah, needed a reliable guardian. He left the Malice Kings at this point, and stayed within the Omphalos until 2012. He followed Aidan Clayce into Netsach without hesitation, and became the Falner Estate’s guardian.

After the discovery of the Dragon’s Pool in the Falner Forest, Orin’s central function for Netsach had been to serve as the Guardian of the Pool. When the dragons began to hatch in 2013, Orin left the Dragon’s Pool in order to go back to his original function for Netsach: serving as the Falner Estate’s Guardian, and the center point that all of the Estate’s security systems revolved around. He has been at the Estate ever since, having survived the Breaking of the Veil, the First Reforms, and the Darkest Vigil. Many newcomers to the base mistake him for a large statue in the back courtyard of the mansion. Many birds have made homes for themselves on Orin’s person.

CURRENT STATUS
Liandrin Delacroix, with Aidan’s blessing, has resurrected Orin’s hunting license and made him a member of the Malice Kings. As things stand, he remains a bit of an open secret within the conspiracy.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
For all intents and purposes, Orin is “human”. He is capable of emotional attachment (this usually manifests in a deep sense of loyalty to Aidan Clayce, the other Malice Kings, and to any Keeper of the Vigil that is associated with Netsach), appears to be possess a strong sense of ethics, shies away from hurting or killing other creatures, is capable of feeling physical pain, and feels the need to preserve himself and survive during a combat situation. Leviathan operatives suspect that the nature of the program that was used to create the consciousness inhabiting Orin’s was an advanced AI that absorbed the lessons that Aidan imparted to him at a phenomenal rate, thus making it possible for Orin to develop a mind of his own. In some ways, Orin is more human than other humans, as he is exceptionally aware of the fragile nature of creatures made of flesh and blood, and often goes out of his way to nurture life in any way that he can (hence his love for gardening).

It is difficult to tell if Orin experiences the loneliness of being one of the few Magitech golems in existence, given how he associates himself with human beings as though he was one himself. The kinship he possesses for his fellow golems appears to be on par with the kinship he feels with other Keepers of the Vigil, most especially operatives of Netsach. Perhaps he does not see the need for differentiating himself, given the positive reinforcement he has had since the start of his existence.

THREAT LEVEL
IMMEASURABLE/NON-FACTOR. Because of the fact that he has a void stone within him and the personal blessing of the Voidseeker has made him near indestructible, Orin is a force to contend with on the battlefield. He is completely immune to magic and supernatural abilities, and can generate energy fields that directly interfere with the Patterns of living creatures. Fortunately, he puts these abilities to good use against destabilizing factors within the Fifth World and appears to be in full support of the world government’s kind of Vigil.
