WHAT ARE RISKBREAKERS?

A Riskbreaker is basically an individual who stands at the peak of human evolution – the so-called “perfect being”, superior in every possible aspect. While they experience life in much the same way as everyone else does, their bodies have developed to what is currently considered to be a preternatural level, making them incredibly quick healers, practically immune to disease and capable of knocking off the effects of chemicals and poisons.

Scientists who have studied Riskbreakers have concluded that the “Riskbreaker condition” is a mutation. This has several interesting implications, the first of which being that they may be a glimpse of what human beings could end up becoming in the future.

POWERS & ABILITIES

In essence, a Riskbreaker is a human being without any limits. They live far longer, they heal faster, they possess preternatural senses, and absorb new experiences with remarkable swiftness. They are, effectively, one of the few classes in Welcome to the New Age that can exceed the 5-dot cap on Attributes, Skills, and Special Advantages - and they don't need to fulfill any special conditions in order to do it.

RISKBREAKERS IN TODAY'S VIGIL

Of all the supernaturals, Riskbreakers have always had the easiest time blending in with the rest of mundane society, because they are still, for all intents and purposes, human to the core. At present, in fact, Riskbreakers have enjoyed a sort of celebrity fame because they are viewed, by many, as the “hope” of the human race, exemplary of what human beings are capable of becoming.

This is a bit of a double-edged sword: some interest groups have taken to kidnapping and experimenting on Riskbreakers in the hopes of unlocking the secret behind their unlimited potential, and other groups have started to coerce Riskbreakers into joining their number in the hopes of using them to establish a “human world order” once again. Thus, Riskbreaker hunters that have joined conspiracies whose policies revolve around preserving supernatural-human relations aren’t always looked upon in a favorable light, especially if they’re operating in communities that are staunchly anti-supernatural.
