HISTORY
Rilea’s early history is a mystery both to other Keepers of the Vigil and to herself. She does not remember how she was born, or if she even had human parents: for as far back as she could recall, the spirits of the land and the flora and fauna of Europe raised her as though she was their own child, and – when she came of age – were at her beck and call. She caught the attention of the Methuselah during the early half of the 14th Century because of her Legacy as the Living Land: she could become the land itself, as though she were the “human” embodiment of Mother Nature. Aidan and Riley pulled her out of the Scandinavian region, and took it upon themselves to raise her as a human being while helping her come to terms with her abilities.
When the Methuselah later set their sights on spreading the Vigil beyond the bounds of Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Aidan decided to place Rilea in charge of the operation. He partnered her with John Duskrider, a Riskbreaker and one of his own Malice Kings. By this time, Rilea was a Malice King herself, and fully attuned with what she was capable of doing as the Living Land of the Fifth World.
John Duskrider and Rilea Heartnet were a part of the Spanish expeditions into the Americas – they did, in fact, play a large role in the establishment of the city of Santo Domingo, one of the earliest Spanish settlements in the New World. From that position, they supported other frontiersmen in their pursuit of a “better future” on American soil – unsurprisingly, many of these frontiersmen were actually supernaturals who were friendly to the Methuselah’s cause, or Hunters themselves (Brotherhood of Violence operatives included, as the Brotherhood was, at that time, one of the most strongest allies that the Methuselah had). Unsurprisingly, Rilea began to fall in love with John: the two of them ended up going through a lot together, and – because the other Malice Kings were occupied with other matters of importance for the Methuselah – they often had no one else to rely on but each other. John, however, could not return Rilea’s feelings: while he cared deeply for Rilea, he was admittedly intimidated by the fact that she was such an ancient creature, ultimately something well beyond human understanding. He ended up marrying a mortal woman and starting his own family. When John died, he made Rilea promise to watch over his family for as long as she could. Rilea agreed.
After John’s death, Rilea became the Malice King in charge of handling the Vigil in the New World. She moved behind the scenes of American history, establishing Liberty and Evergreen – the Methuselah’s first power bases in the Americas – and tried her best to guide the earliest American Hunters towards a Vigil that was better suited to preserving the Balance. She is, in fact, attributed with the founding of the Candle Compact in Philadelphia, the first non-Methuselah organization that believed that Hunters needed to cooperate with each other rather than compete with each other. She is also the Malice King that pushed the American government towards colonizing countries in Asia, particularly the Philippines. This was how she became known as Liberty’s Belle, a beautiful woman shrouded in mystery and vested with powers beyond all human imagination.
Interestingly enough, true to her promise to John Duskrider, Rilea retained her strong ties with the Duskrider family as their friend and guardian. She took care of Shane Duskrider, and made him worthy of becoming a Malice King under Aidan Clayce’s command – she was even the one who introduced him to Elsa, his wife. When Shane had an emotional breakdown, Rilea was the one who approached Aidan and told him that Shane’s young son Calintz needed a family. Of course, she did not expect that all of this – together with the fact that Aidan ended up partnering them up in the same way that he had partnered Rilea with John – would make Calintz fall in love with her. Unfortunately, damaged as she had been over John’s rejection, Rilea tried her best to ignore her feelings and keep Calintz at an arm’s length.
2012 was, initially, an uncomfortable year for Rilea. The Methuselah was in decline, and the organization’s operatives in America – a country she had grown to love, by merit of being the woman who had taken care of the place herself – were particularly awful. Some of her own allies were growing more distant to her (like Aidan and Liandrin), others were absent (like Riley and Setsuna), and still others looked like they were becoming open affronts to everything she stood for (like Alistair and Hikaru). She was also struggling with the feelings she had for Calintz, as a part of her was still uncertain over whether she could take a chance with him and be happy. In fact, when the Wiseman’s Committee ruled in favor of killing Hikaru, Rilea was actually supportive of their decision. This ultimately drove a wedge between her and Calintz, and nearly destroyed their relationship. It took Calintz’s bullheadedness, Liandrin’s drive, and the intervention of Wolf’s Choice – particularly Deirdra Max, Aria Skye, and Anton dela Cruz, three children that Rilea viewed as her own – to bring Rilea home and remind her who her real family was.
After she got over the doubt she had in herself and recalibrated her own position as the Living Land, Rilea threw herself back into the Vigil with newfound drive. She facilitated Netsach’s expansion, and played a major role in Operation Nyx. Her “reward”, of course, was getting married to Calintz in 2013: an acknowledgment of the fact that she was willing to spend the rest of her life with this man.
Things, however, did not necessarily get easier for Rilea or the rest of Netsach after that. When Calintz left in order to establish the Midnight Riders, Rilea left the Philippines in order to establish Netsach’s presence in the United States of America, and serve as her conspiracy’s main liaison to the Methuselah. She established Wakiya, and became the first Kaiser of the division in a fashion remarkably similar to how she founded Liberty.
Rilea remained in the United States of America during the entirety of the Darkest Vigil, leaving only on occasion to participate in major Netsach-related operations in Russia and Africa. She and Liandrin Delacroix felt that it was important to have at least one Malice King within America at all times, given how turbulent the situation was on that continent. As such, Rilea only left the country after the Armistice at Blaece, and subsequently relinquished her position. By then, she was certain that the branch could stand on its own, without her assistance.
CURRENT STATUS
At present, Rilea has settled down in the Falner Estate. All of her children have grown up and moved on to their own things, but Rilea wants to be available for them as much as she can. She and her husband are also Liandrin’s immediate Malice Kings on call.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Deeply compassionate and incredibly maternal. Rilea appears to have the natural instinct to assume the best of whoever she encounters, and protect whoever needs it the most. Her drive towards preserving the so-called “natural order of things” goes beyond deep-seated beliefs: she is in many ways, by merit of being the Living Land, the order itself. All things in the cycle of life have their place, and Nature is not evil or good: it simply is. This makes her the perfect example of a Thyrsus Mage.
Rilea is emphatic towards all forms of life, no matter how big or small it happens to be. This does not, however, prevent her from taking life with her own two hands. If she feels that such an action is necessary according to her principles, Rilea will be the first to attempt to land a killing blow against whatever has been declared as her enemy.
THREAT LEVEL
CONSIDERABLE/NON-FACTOR. Until it becomes clear to Rilea that the actions of Pax Deorum violate her sense of order or jeopardize Nature, the Living Land is not an issue. She has, in fact, made many contributions to the Vigil’s cause, and can be relied upon in a pinch.

ELIAS’ NOTES
- Approach the Small Council with regard to increasing Inquisitor Heartnet’s influence within the conspiracy. Possesses invaluable ties to the United States of America as a whole, and has enough personal motivation to follow through if it means preserving the Balance. Furthermore, she possesses no real administrative ties beyond her position as a Malice King: hence, minimal conflict of interest.
It’s good to see her happy.

HISTORY
From the offset, Setsuna Shinta has always been an anomaly in the Fifth World. She never Awakened as a Mage: she was born a Mage in a completely mundane family. Furthermore, she was later identified by the Methuselah as the first Fatespinner of the Fifth World. Being a Fatespinner meant knowing the story of every single entity that she encountered: she could see who they really were, who they currently were and all of the possible things that they could be on sight, whether she liked it or not. This also meant that she knew how to move them, and knew, as well, what simply could not be changed no matter how hard one tried. As such, Setsuna was familiar with a life of isolation at a young age. The people of Yamatai – the kingdom she was born into – feared her, and called her a witch. Her own parents were afraid of her, and kept her locked inside a deep cave behind the waterfall that their home stood beside. The only person who did not care who she was and loved her unconditionally was Hikaru, her younger brother. Setsuna was, in fact, the main reason why Hikaru pushed himself so hard and eventually became the General of the Stormguard: he hoped that he could use the authority vested in him to order his sister’s release. This was, for all intents and purposes, improbable – and then Aidan Clayce, Riley Falner and Alistair Mordechai arrived in Yamatai.
A year before he went to Yamatai, Aidan had seen Setsuna in his dreams. They had conversed with each other, and – while her abilities made him alternately uncomfortable and angry over being so vulnerable to her – the Voidseeker did not have it in him to ignore her plight and stay away from her. What ultimately pushed him to come and see her for himself was the fact that Hikaru, her brother, had been chosen by the Godslayer, thus making him an ideal candidate for the Deus Ex Machina Project. What disturbed Aidan was that Setsuna was aware of all of this, but did nothing to stop him and his companions from coming. Riley met Marrigan for the first time, and used his burgeoning friendship with the Storm Queen to have Setsuna released from her prison. In the meantime, Aidan and Alistair trained Hikaru and prepared him for the ritual that would allow him to slay a god and bring its power into himself.
Setsuna quietly looked on as the ritual pushed through and ultimately destroyed her brother. She stayed at Aidan’s side, joining the Methuselah and following him even as he moved to drive her away from him. It was not long before she quietly shouldered her way into the Malice Kings, and became the one Malice King who could stare the Voidseeker down and remind him of his humanity. She also used her abilities as a Fatespinner to guide Alistair towards Hikaru, and made sure that the Methuselah was always generally aware of when her brother would come back. In fact, in 1531 – the beginning of Hikaru’s 9th Life Cycle, and one of the cycles where Alistair’s soul was absent from the Fallen World – Setsuna personally took charge of seeking Hikaru out and raising him herself. At that point, however, Hikaru had come back embittered by his experience with the Methuselah, and turned his back on the conspiracy. He named himself the Wolf of Japan, and formed the Searing Wind (the conspiracy that would later be known as Zangyaku) in 1545 in the name of perpetuating a Vigil purer than what the Methuselah offered. While Setsuna tried her best to smooth things over between Aidan and her brother, she ultimately let Hikaru do as he wished and offered whatever guidance she could.
The next major event that occurred in Setsuna’s life was her mortal death. The Malice Kings found themselves face-to-face with Nyx, the destructive mechanism that heralded the closing of the door on the existence of one world and the opening of the next. Setsuna was aware of two things: Nyx had arrived too soon, and if nobody managed to stop her, Aidan would be forced to lock himself in stasis and fight Nyx until one of them won over the other. Because of this, she sacrificed herself in his place, eliminating the threads that tied her to the Prime Material Plane and intimately weaving her fate in with Nyx, thus becoming the Shield that would hold the Destroyer of Worlds back for as long as she could. Her death dealt a great emotional blow to Aidan, Riley and Hikaru, especially in light of the fact that it was almost certain that she would never be able to come back.
For the next two hundred years, Setsuna was trapped in the Forgotten Shore, using the full force of her power as a Fatespinner to keep Nyx at bay. She did not expect anyone to come and save her – she did not, in fact, want anyone to try. As such, Yahweh’s intervention on her behalf was a surprise. The Creator of the Fifth World acknowledged the deep love she harbored for the people of his Creation, and for the “strays” of the Fourth World – that is, Riley Falner and Aidan Clayce. Yahweh then granted Setsuna amnesty, allowing her to drift into the Fallen World as a Great Spirit. Her bans were simple: she had to be tethered to a Mage that matched her level of power, and she would be granted only one mortal week a year to take human form again. Naturally, the Mage that ended up making Setsuna his familiar was Aidan.
Setsuna rejoined the Malice Kings in her newfound form, and became the Methuselah’s liaison to Zangyaku while furthering the purposes of her conspiracy’s Vigil in Asia. She was reunited with the Malice Kings that she had known in her mortal life (Riley, Alistair and Rilea), met Aidan’s new “batch” (Calintz, Liandrin and Rethe), and was also reunited with her younger brother Hikaru. She continued to offer her counsel to her comrades, and watch over Aidan as best as she could. Furthermore, she used her abilities to forward her brother’s agenda: saving as many people as he could from the world, or from themselves. Interestingly enough, she continuously attempted to tell Aidan to move on from their failed relationship, and remind him that there was a person that was ultimately more deserving of his love in Rethe Kyriff. Aidan, burdened as he was by guilt and the firm belief that he had caused Setsuna’s death, would not hear of it.
Ultimately, it was Setsuna who pushed Aidan in the proper direction when things looked exceptionally dark for the Methuselah. Her counsel made him certain, in the year 2012, that turning his back on the Methuselah and establishing Netsach was the best possible move that he could make. She was also the one who convinced him to stop being distant, and make better use of the powers at his disposal in order to protect the Fifth World. Interestingly enough, because of this she spent the good majority of the year embodied as a human being: Aidan released her from her bans with Elaine Belloc’s blessing. Both of them knew, however, that they could only bend the universe’s rules for so long. Setsuna needed to ascent properly as a Great Spirit, and take her place in the greater order of things. As such, at the end of Operation Nyx, Setsuna let go of the final seal that was keeping her on the Prime Material Plane, and left everything and everyone that she loved behind.
CURRENT STATUS
Researchers from the Leviathan have discovered that Setsuna is a near-invisible presence in the Fifth World. She has practically become one with the Prime Material Plane in a fashion similar to how Rilea Heartnet, the Living Land, can meld her consciousness into Nature Herself. She also appears to be a ban that prevents her from identifying herself, and manifesting to the people she cares the most. Unless the party that has managed to see her names her in some fashion, informs the party that she wishes to see of her existence and convinces them that she really is there, Setsuna will be unable to appear to them. Furthermore, these stipulations must happen every single time she hopes to see them.
Keepers of the Vigil with particularly strong ties to the Dreamscape and to Twilight have encountered Setsuna, but were unable to spend more than ten minutes in her presence before the ban removed her from their awareness. Furthermore, Keepers of the Vigil that had particularly intimate ties with her and the capability to travel through the Dreamscape and Twilight – Rilea Heartnet and Liandrin Delacroix being the prime examples –always arrived on the scene too late to speak to her. Thus far, Aidan Clayce and Hikaru Shinta have not seen her. It is unknown whether she has seen them.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
It is easy to view Setsuna as some sort of saint-like figure: someone immaculate, virtuous and ultimately unreachable. Few records of what she was like prior to her human death and transfiguration exist; the only sources one might have are oral accounts cobbled together from the people who knew her, or met her personally. The only accurate assessment that one can have of her must be drawn based from the actions that led up to her death.
It takes a remarkable amount of compassion, a near perfect sense of duty and an ineffable will to face certain failure (failure, of course, being the end of one’s existence) and not shirk from it. In order to prevent the Apocalypse from happening, Setsuna used her power as a Fatespinner by repairing the severed connections of the world with the strings that made up her own fate, effectively killing herself in the process. There was no way to determine if this would permanently end her existence, removing her completely from the karmic cycle; she knew this. She acted anyway.
Whatever Setsuna’s flaws may actually be, it is safe to assume that she is inherently altruistic, with a genuine desire to give whatever she can back to the world she lives in, most especially the people she cares about and the causes she believes in.
THREAT LEVEL
IMMEASURABLE/NON-FACTOR. Setsuna’s existence has always been anomalous, and her own conviction has often resulted in her making the impossible possible. Fortunately, as a Great Spirit she is intimately bound by the laws of the universe. The only remaining point of concern would be if (or when) she completely loses touch with humanity as she grows stronger.

ELIAS’ NOTES
She is out there. I know it. I believe it, even if I have never seen her for myself. And she’s always, always going to watch over us.Consult Prometheus, contact Leviathan. Project offering: tracking Setsuna Shinta.

Incredibly effective at debilitating his opponents from a distance. His true talents, however, lie behind the frontlines.
HISTORY
Zaghiel was created from the stuff of Yahweh’s purest thoughts at the beginning of the universe. He was one of the first Angels of Death, serving as a Guardian of the Tree of Life by making sure that he policed the Borderlines. This meant that he served as a psychopomp, reaping souls and determining where they were going to end up next, be it in one of the Realms Celestial, the Realms Supernal, the Underworld, the Infernal Realms, or back into the Well of Souls in order to be reincarnated back on the Prime Material Plane. This meant that Zaghiel was one of the only Cherubim who was distant from the Source because he had been tasked to watch over an aspect of Creation. At that time, though, he was too attuned to his angelic nature to fully understand mortal behavior.
During the Secret War of Heaven, the violent flux in the energies of the Universe caused by Yahweh’s departure dislodged Zaghiel, causing his Fall from Grace. The cherub, cut off as he was from his Source, plummeted through the Borderlines and into the Prime Material Plane. He finally crash landed just at the borders of the Falner Estate and lay on the surface of Earth, broken, twisted, and dying.
Aidan Clayce came to him at that point. The Voidseeker immediately knew what had happened, and carried the cherub into the Manor. After a week of attempting to heal Zaghiel and trying, unsuccessfully, to contact the entities that was engaged in a war of succession for Yahweh’s abandoned throne, Aidan – in a move that surprised him just as much as it surprised the other Malice Kings – permanently tied Zaghiel’s existence with his own, effectively becoming the cherub’s Source in Yahweh’s place. Of course, doing so meant that Zaghiel would be incarnated into a human form: for reasons unknown, Zaghiel took the shape of a sixteen-year-old human boy. It also left Zaghiel in a unique position between angel and mortal, what he used to be, what he was at present, and what he could still become.
As soon as Zaghiel had recovered from his injuries, Aidan gave him a human name: Rethe Kyriff. The Voidseeker then explained the situation to Rethe, and gave him a choice: he could present himself to Elaine, the new Creator, and rejoin the heavenly host, or he could follow Aidan. Naturally, Rethe elected to follow him, and devote himself to whatever cause Aidan believed in. As a response, Aidan – ignoring the naysayers within the Wiseman’s Committee, and the Leviathan researchers who were interested and hoped to “study” Rethe’s “condition” – immediately made the boy a Malice King under his direct command.
Rethe applied himself totally to the Vigil from that point onward. Aidan and the other Malice Kings took it upon themselves to tutor Rethe in the ways of humanity, and Rethe responded only too perfectly to their guidance. He balanced the duties he still had as a psychopomp of the Fifth World with his duties as a Hunter: he was, in fact, the first of the Methuselah to be known as “the Dovetailor”, for he became the conspiracy’s one-man-information network. He eventually realized (through extensive conversations with Setsuna, Hikaru and Riley) that his devotion to Aidan was not simply a result of the Voidseeker being his Source: he truly was in love with the man. Aidan, however, pretended not to notice.
By 2012, Rethe was overly burdened by the feelings he had for Aidan. The one time he confessed to the Voidseeker, in fact, ended in frustration and tears, as the Voidseeker told him outright that it was impossible for them to have a relationship. Interestingly enough, Aidan found himself eating his own words the night after the rise of Netsach. Aidan’s acceptance of Rethe’s feelings ended up making Rethe undergo a physical transformation: his body aged, shaping him into a 24-year-old young man – something a little more “socially acceptable”, and definitely stronger than his original vessel. Rethe played a major role in Aidan’s open war against the Exarchs, in Netsach’s expansion, and in Operation Nyx.
Following his marriage to Aidan in 2013, Rethe became Netsach’s official liaison to the Brotherhood of Violence and the Order of the Mani dello Spirito Santo. He also became the Administrator of Maenad and a member of the Arcanum, joining the Dovetailor in facilitating information and logistics for Netsach agents across the globe. Unlike other “hubs”, though, Rethe was Netsach’s traveling information broker, posing as a DJ at Maenad’s different night clubs and entertainment establishments.
Rethe’s presence was felt more than it was actually seen during the Darkest Vigil. He was the Malice King in charge of anti-Grendal operations in Russia, and spent most of his time undercover. In fact, for almost the entirety of the Darkest Vigil, the only people who knew precisely where he was and how to contact him were the other Malice Kings. He only resurfaced in earnest once the wars ended.
CURRENT STATUS
The Armistice at Blaece and subsequent end of the Darkest Vigil marked the beginning of Rethe’s “World of Light Career” as a musician and DJ – a move suggested by Cerberus, and Jessiah Vice himself. He signed under Vice Records, Vice Enterprises’ record label; his mixes and original songs have consistently topped the Billboards since 2060. He travels just about as much as his husband Aidan does, but is usually found on the grounds of the Falner Estate.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Constant exposure to mankind and Aidan Clayce’s own tutelage together with the tutelage of the other Malice Kings has helped Rethe understand humanity, thus enabling him to form his own personality over the past few centuries. He is quiet and reserved, detached from small concerns but incredibly compassionate towards those whom he perceives to be weaker than himself. It is clear, however, that there are still times when the dissonance of his very existence disturbs Rethe in ways that he himself might not fully realize.
Another subject of interest would be Rethe’s devotion to Aidan Clayce. A cursory diagnosis is simple enough: Rethe is loyal to Aidan because the Voidseeker saved his life. Leviathan scientists, however, have pointed out that to become an angel’s Source means to become – at the risk of sounding dramatic – their lord and god, instilling in the angel a total, perfect and nearly self-destructive devotion. This – combined with a full inculcation of human emotions, the strongest being a sense of indebtedness, loyalty and gratitude – appears to be the main reason why Rethe ended up falling in love with Aidan.
Cerberus profilers used to be divided in their opinion over this matter. Some believed that such emotional reactions may simply be a bi-product of the bonding, designed to make it easier for the subject to perform its duties for the Source; others believed that the emotions may, in fact, be genuine, given the fact that Rethe is “fully” human. The events that took place in 2012, however, proved that Rethe’s feelings for Aidan were, indeed, real.
THREAT LEVEL
IMMEASURABLE/NON-FACTOR. Because Aidan is his Source, the only rules that bind Rethe as Zaghiel the Relentless are rules that the Voidseeker sets out for him. Nevertheless, Rethe has become increasingly independent, and appears to have a set of principles grounded upon the Judeo-Christian sense of justice and righteousness. For so long as that is not challenged, the cherub remains an steadfast defender of the Vigil and a guardian of the Balance.

COMBAT ASSESSMENT: Extremely aggressive close-ranged fighter. Engages opponents in a haphazard fashion without any real sense of strategy.
HISTORY
The first thing Alastor remembers about his existence is pain and an endless, all-encompassing hunger. He is an Acamoth born from the Abyss, and – like all abyssal creatures – he initially yearned to return to the Void from which he had come from. Unlike other Acamoth, however, the more he came into contact with Mages, the more distant he felt from his hunger, and the less he yearned for the Void. Things changed for him completely when he found himself entering a pact with Darien Delacroix. What set Darien apart from all of the other Mages that Alastor had dealt with in the past was that Darien was uninterested in what Alastor had to offer him. Darien, in fact, simply wanted to know more about Alastor and why he did not act like other creatures of his kind did. The two of them became brothers more than they were master and servant, and – upon his death – Darien promised to devote all of his family’s resources to helping Alastor learn how to be human.
At that point, Alastor willingly became the Shadow of the Delacroix. He was passed from head to head, and each one – in deference to Darien’s last wish – did their best to treat Alastor as though he was a part of the family, and ultimately “human” like they were human. Alastor, in turn, became incredibly loyal to them, and watched over them to the best of his abilities. He was, in fact, incredibly displeased by Mathius Delacroix’s decision to hide him away from the Awakened world for Alastor’s own protection. Mathius knew that the Seers of the Throne were after him, and hoped to find a way to release Alastor before the Seers tracked them down. Mathius was killed before this could even happen – but not before he could guide Liandrin, his only child, to where Alastor was.
Alastor took to Liandrin immediately. She was the only person he had left of a family that he had grown to call his own, and wanted to make sure that she stayed safe. He took a shadow name for himself – Lorenzo Reyes – and followed her into the Methuselah, becoming a Malice King under Aidan Clayce’s command. He even agreed to help Liandrin learn all of the Attainments of the Vox Tonitrui, even though he felt that her having the Legacy of the Delacroix would give her another tool to fuel her need for revenge. He was proven right in the worst possible way during the 1900s. After that, Lorenzo swore to stop following Liandrin blindly, and become, ironically, another voice of reason in her life.
Lorenzo was primarily stationed where Liandrin was for the entirety of his career in the Methuselah and in Netsach. He was in the Philippines in 2012, and facilitated the rise and expansion of Netsach. He also participated in Operation Nyx. Later on, in a move that surprised a number of Netsach’s operatives, Lorenzo became Netsach’s official liaison to the Thrones and spent most of his time during the First Reforms traveling with his (semi-)demonic companions. Licensing with the Thrones was a personal decision on Lorenzo’s part, and one that all of the other Malice Kings felt was necessary. He also willingly became the Master of the Arcanum in Liandrin’s place.
Lorenzo usually operated within South America and Europe during the Darkest Vigil, working in places that were still heavily under demonic influence. He was present, however, for all of Netsach’s major operations around the world, and often served as a direct line to Liandrin during particularly difficult moments.
CURRENT STATUS
Now that the Thrones are in a more stable position and the wars are over, Lorenzo has returned to the Philippines. He is usually found fast asleep at his desk in the Arcanum.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Initially, Lorenzo may give off the impression of being a battered child, or even a pet. His constant referrals to Liandrin Delacroix make it obvious that she may be the one person whom Lorenzo is frightened of and seeks to please with his behavior. He also looks for some form of validation from her, even if it happens to border on abuse. In actuality, however, this persona of Lorenzo’s is more a result of him attempting to keep his urges as an Acamoth in control. He is constantly at war with his own instincts, particularly his need for violence. Liandrin serves as his anchor, just as all of Liandrin’s ancestors have in the past.
Lorenzo’s loyalty to Liandrin is unquestionable, even if it manifests in eccentric fashions. They appear to counterbalance each other, although Lorenzo usually defers to Liandrin’s judgment in matters rather than rely on his own knowledge of the subject at hand.
THREAT LEVEL
CONSIDERABLE/FACTOR (10%). While it is clear that Lorenzo has come a long way from his past, there is the constant danger of him losing control and becoming a force to reckon with for his own conspiracy, and for the Vigil as a whole. In light of this, Liandrin’s existence becomes incredibly important. Lorenzo is known to react violently and become incredibly erratic whenever he encounters anything that he feels may be a threat to Liandrin. If she is protected and safe, then Lorenzo is stable. If she is in danger, Lorenzo becomes a problem for whoever he comes across.

ELIAS’ NOTES
- Approach Inquisitor Reyes with regard to his conduct. His direct superiors in Netsach may not mind, but Metis operatives have a point: it is bad for their conspiracy’s image to have a Malice King who is constantly asleep during meetings.

HISTORY
Much of the insecurity and lack of faith that Jen possessed in herself was a result of her family’s history. She and her siblings were the second family of her father, and the first family was fully aware of their existence. Her father did not do anything to protect the second family from the hatred of his first wife, and wrongfully insisted on having both families celebrate major events in the year – birthdays, Holy Week, and Christmas – together. In this sense, discovering her Gift for herself was a welcome thing for Jen, for it allowed her to quite literally disappear whenever she needed to.
It took Watchers of Anino about three years to find Jen and bring her to Ateneo de Manila University, where she started to train as a Hunter – interestingly enough, it was Hikaru Shinta’s tip-off that pointed them in the right direction, and helped the Watchers pull Jen out. Her initial months with the rest of her classmates were difficult, and it is almost strange to note that for a good, long time, she and Neeka Zobel de Ayala – the woman that she is currently closest to – did not get along at all. Paolo Inojosa, the man that Jen would eventually fall in love with and get married to, was her first real friend.
The Pack, Jennifer’s blade, quickly distinguished themselves from their peers the moment they came together as a group and started fighting together in earnest. They are noted for their participation in several major Methuselah engagements during 2012, and also noted for being one of the first blades to follow the Dragon and leave the Methuselah in favor of joining Netsach. They proceed to play a major role for Netsach all the way until Operation Nyx.
Jen and Paolo married each other in 2013, soon after Calintz Duskrider married Rilea Heartnet. Initially, the plan that she and Paolo had agreed upon was that she was going to retire from active duty and focus on raising their family. The Darkest Vigil changed their plans.
Once it was clear that things were going to break down, Jen returned to active duty at Netsach. She rose to the rank of Inquisitor quickly, and took advantage of her relationship with her husband in order to license with the Brotherhood of Violence. Jen generally remained within the Philippines, leaving only to participate in anti-Grendal initiatives close to the Russian borders. This was a hard decision on her part, because she was, in a way, forced to choose between giving her all to the Hunt and staying alive for her family. Thankfully, this did not jeopardize her relationship with Paolo.
CURRENT STATUS
Now that the Darkest Vigil is over, Jen has properly retired from Hunting. She is one of the instructors at Balamb, Netsach’s “in-house” Hunter academy.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Initially, everything Jennifer did was an exercise in pleasing as many parties as possible. She had close to little faith in herself, and was constantly plagued by insecurity. This affected the control she had over her gift: invisibility became her literal retreat from the world, as she would start to disappear every time she could not handle her emotions.
The Pack (and, by extension, the conspiracies Jen became a part of) became a stabilizing factor in Jen’s life. Being a Hunter taught her how to believe in herself, and rise up to the challenges that face all Keepers of the Vigil. She is an incredibly stable individual at present, and knows when she needs to fight and when she needs to retreat.
THREAT LEVEL
NOTABLE/NON-FACTOR. Jennifer has since retired from the Hunt, and – while she is a particularly strong Touched in the Philippines – is not a matter of concern in the larger picture.

FAVORED WEAPONS: Sniper Rifle
COMBAT ASSESSMENT: Long-ranged fighter, prefers to provide cover fire and tactical shots in combat rather than be close to the front lines. The Benedictions he has selected are all geared towards increasing his prowess on the battlefield and disabling his targets.
HISTORY
Paolo’s first encounter with the supernatural was actually the disappearance of Marissa, his older sister: she had left home after an altercation with his parents, and had never come back. His second encounter was what ended up tagging him with the Methuselah: the ghost of his grandfather, driven mad by Amrita, attacked his family when he was eighteen. The Methuselah sent in a blade of fighters to neutralize the situation, and Paolo insisted on joining their conspiracy as a Hunter. He enrolled in Ateneo de Manila University for that purpose.
Because of his genial disposition and inherent talent as a fighter, it was not too long before Paolo managed to cobble a blade out of the very different young men and women that comprised the Pack. He was elected as their blade leader, and became the moral glue that kept his friends together through thick and thin. It helped, of course, that he fell madly in love with Jennifer Deveras, his blade mate – he was certain, within the first six months, that he wanted to be with Jen for the rest of his life.
In the middle of 2012, a little after he and the rest of the Pack defected from the Methuselah and joined Netsach, Paolo began to train with the Brotherhood of Violence: he wanted to make sure that his very human limitations were not going to get in the way of his ability to Keep the Vigil. He was a full-fledged Brother in Violence by the time Operation Nyx occurred, and put his knowledge of the Benedictions to good use in the fight. On another note, this was also the year that he – with the help of his comrades in Wolf’s Choice and the Rockin’ Rollas – discovered what had really happened to his sister Marissa. She had been taken by Cersei, and had lost her soul in Arcadia.
Directly after his marriage to Jen in 2012, Paolo was assigned as the Bishop of the Dragon Spires in the Philippines – this effectively made him Father Drake Badd’s second-in-command. He spent the majority of the Breaking of the Veil and the First Reforms engaged in Brotherhood of Violence operations around the country, and within Southeast Asia.
While he technically served as one Liyab’s high-ranking operatives on call during the Darkest Vigil, Paolo tried to go wherever he was required, and distinguished himself as a legendary sniper during anti-Grendal operations in Russia. He has told many of his closest friends that he managed to get out of a lot of close calls through sheer force of will, and the desire to come back home in one peace to his family.
CURRENT STATUS
Paolo is preparing to step down from his position as Bishop directly after the Armistice at Blaece. He has also retired from Hunting, which gives him a lot of time to be with his wife.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Where most others in his position would have quailed and questioned their place in the world, every traumatic incident that Paolo faced in his life only served to solidify his beliefs and increase his drive to help as many people as possible. He is a deliberate and careful leader, sound in his judgment and fair to all parties concerned. He is also a relentless fighter on the battlefield, known for his propensity to move in first and leave last, and only when he is absolutely sure that there is nothing else for him to do.
Paolo emerged from the Darkest Vigil much wiser and more subdued than he had ever been, but the events that he bore witness to did not leave lasting scars. This may be attributed to the fact that his family was the stabilizing factor in his life during his most trying times, and effectively kept him sane.
THREAT LEVEL
NOTABLE/NON-FACTOR. Paolo has since retired from the Hunt, and – even though he is a particularly strong Brother in Violence and made quite a name for himself as a sniper during the Darkest Vigil – is not a matter of concern in the larger picture.

COMBAT ASSESSMENT: Supporting player on the field, preferring to hang back and use his abilities to bolster the efforts of his comrades rather than engage his foes directly.
HISTORY
Watchers stationed at Anino were aware of Gideon Reyes’ potential as a Minstrel the moment he turned eight, a year before he discovered it himself. They monitored his situation closely, but only moved in when he was eleven years old: the boy had lashed out at some of the bullies in his school, and his cutting scream had ended up blowing out every window in his school building. The Order of Minstrels took custody of him at that point, and Lucrezia Rodriguez – then First Minstrel of the Order – personally took it upon herself to train him.
Gideon continued to go to school as normal while balancing his training under Lucrezia. One incident that would mark him early on in life was his first encounter with Hikaru Shinta, a boy who would later become one of his closest friends. While he was traveling with Lucrezia in Japan, Gideon got a hold of a score of the Music of Command and played it out of curiosity; he ended up summoning an oni, and was nearly killed by the creature. Hikaru was the one who saved his life.
Anino sponsored Gideon’s scholarship to Ateneo de Manila University, and Gideon immediately began to train as a Hunter of the Methuselah – he was two years older than the majority of his batch mates because of all of the time he had spent abroad with Lucrezia, his mentor. The first friend he made in his batch was Matteo Tupaz, a Rahu Blood Talon. He later came in contact with Paolo Inojosa, Jennifer Deveras, and Neeka Zobel de Ayala, the rest of his future blade mates. After some initial difficulties, the group eventually became a proper blade, and took a name for themselves on the night of their initiation: the Pack, to honor the one truly supernatural member of their group.
As soon as Gideon and the rest of his blade mates reached the Sixth Circle, each one of them was placed in charge of a blade of novices. Gideon was assigned to handle Wolf’s Choice. He ended up growing rather close to their members, and the things that they experienced together in 2012 made them all very close to each other. In fact, Gideon even fell in love Deirdra Max, the Riskbreaker of the crew.
Gideon, together with the Pack, defected from the Methuselah and joined Netsach. This meant even more to Gideon than it did to his friends because of his close ties to Hikaru. A little after Operation Hokkaido, the Minstrel began to awaken to a different reality with his music as the Grand Song of Measuring began to awaken within him. He mastered his Grand Song within a few months, and continued to give his all in 2012 right up to Operation Nyx.
The first thing that Gideon did after the Keepers of the Vigil defeated Nyx was involve himself more deeply with the Order of his mentor. He also married Deirdra Max, and focused his energies on the recovery and training of succeeding generations of Minstrels. By the time the Darkest Vigil hit, he had replaced Lucrezia as the First Minstrel of the Order. He was the one who ended up moving the main base of the Order to the Philippines, a move that many agreed with given how unstable things were outside of his home country.
Since Deirdra was heavily involved with her work during the Darkest Vigil, Gideon was the one who held the fort for the both of them, making sure that he was present both for his comrades at Liyab and for his own children. He was one of the first artists who signed under Vice Records, and continued composing and performing throughout the Darkest Vigil as a part of Cerberus’ initiative to boost morale for Netsach’s hunters and improve public relations between humans and supernaturals.
CURRENT STATUS
Gideon has recently retired from his career as a musician, and his position at the Order of Minstrels. He’s still very content with being a house husband, and supporting his wife in whatever way he can.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
In his younger years, Gideon’s preoccupation with the idea that all things in the world must be balanced properly may have been an adverse reaction to how extreme conditions had the tendency to shape his life in ways that he was never entirely ready for. For one, his awakening as a Minstrel already set himself apart from everyone, even his own parents. For another, his defiance of a direct order from his mentor nearly got him killed. His need to ensure that everything and everyone around him has its place may, quite certainly, be read as psychological projection.
At present, Gideon is a far more stable individual whose coping mechanisms have become an essential part of his world view. The Song of Measuring gives him insight on things that he may, at times, be completely unprepared for, or unwilling to see: with this sort of ability at his disposal, it would be difficult for a less principled individual to resist the temptation of maneuvering what is in front of him to suit his own purposes. That Gideon has not abused his powers in any fashion since he “tuned in” to the Grand Song is telling of his mental discipline and emotional fortitude.
THREAT LEVEL
NOTABLE/NON-FACTOR. Gideon’s disposition alone already makes him easy to deal with. Furthermore, even though he is one of the few Minstrels of the Grand Song and a Hunter of repute, it is clear that his current interests lie in living the rest of his days out peacefully. The likelihood of him becoming an issue for Pax Deorum or the Vigil at present is slim.

ELIAS’ NOTES
- Approach Inquisitor Reyes re: licensing with the Methuselah. The Song of Measuring could prove useful to the conspiracy, and to the Vigil as a whole.
But asking once is enough. It’s high time that you retire, old friend.

HISTORY
Matteo, like many others of his kind, had a difficult childhood. His father was an abusive drunk that had abandoned his mother the moment he learned that she was pregnant with his child, and – as soon as Matteo was old enough to walk around and talk – his own mother neglected him. Matteo grew up angry, and it was not just an anger born out of his situation: he was Wolfborn because of his father, and could already feel the pull of the Predator within him at an early age.
Anino tagged Matteo the moment he underwent the First Change at the age of fourteen, and spirited him away from his mother. They set him up in his own place, and funded the rest of his schooling all the way down to his tertiary education at Ateneo de Manila University. Matteo, however, was a difficult person to get along with, and hardly an easy person to handle for his caretakers. He only started to ease up around the likes of Paolo Inojosa, Gideon Reyes, Jennifer Deveras and Neeka Zobel de Ayala, and even that took a lot of time.
By 2012, Matteo was a Sixth Circle of Anino, and keenly interested in becoming a Sworn Wolfheart of Zangyaku. The Japanese conspiracy, in his opinion, suited him better. He had little love for the Methuselah, and professed, only too often, that his loyalties were with “the man” (Aidan Clayce), and not “the idiots he worked for” (the Methuselah). As such, his decision to defect to the Methuselah and join Zangyaku instead of becoming a part of Netsach was not too surprising: the Committee’s decision to kill Hikaru Shinta had disgusted him, and was, for Matteo, the last entry in a long list of the sins they had committed in the name of the greater good.
Although he spent the remainder of that year shuttling between the Philippines and Japan, Matteo always made it a point to be available for his old Netsach blade mates in the Pack in as much as he could. He involved himself with the Lodge of the Vigil in Japan, and participated in major operations of both Zangyaku and Netsach. The largest operation he was a part of was Operation Nyx.
Matteo dual-licensed with Netsach after the fight against the Destroyer of Worlds, and was promptly invited into the Lodge of the Vigil in the Philippines. He spent most of his time during the Breaking of the Veil and the First Reforms shuttling between Netsach and Zangyaku, as one of Zangyaku’s official liaisons to Liyab.
Once the Darkest Vigil hit, Matteo was one of the first operatives on the front lines. He had always put the Vigil above everything else even during his earliest years as a hunter, and his dedication and prowess ended up saving countless lives.
Matteo engaged the members of the Searing Wind in ceremonial combat directly after the Armistice at Blaece. As a result, he is one of the newest entries to the inner circle of the Wolf; he replaced Feränen, a werewolf whom he regarded as his mentor and closest friend.
CURRENT STATUS
Stationed at Kibo at present; serves as one of the representatives of the Searing Wind in the Philippines. He runs the power base with Kalika Shinta, the adopted sister of the Blade King himself. Matteo has received a number of marriage offers within Zangyaku, and has consistently denied them all.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Matteo’s outward demeanor is often a direct contrast to his actual emotions. The Rage has always been the bane of a werewolf’s existence, and Uratha of the Rahu Auspice have the tendency to feel it even more keenly than their brothers among the People. On Matteo’s end, his difficult past only aggravated this predisposition to lose himself over the smallest things. He attempted to cope in the past by engaging in hobbies and activities that required careful thought and deliberation; he continues to use these practices as outlets, and as a means to center himself.
Although he is loyal to the death towards his blade mates and to the people within his conspiracy, Matteo’s constant insistence on keeping other people at arm’s length and busying himself with the Hunt rather than seeking out an intimate relationship hint at something beyond a love for the thrill of the kill. It is entirely possible that he is still uncertain of his ability to stay within control, and does not wish to subject whoever he chooses to love to his temperament.
THREAT LEVEL
NOTABLE/NON-FACTOR. Matteo is, by far, the only remaining member of the Pack who could still prove to be dangerous should he ever choose to turn his back on the cause. Fortunately, any propensity do so is trumped by his extreme loyalty towards Zangyaku.
