HISTORY
Henry was the only son of a happily married Filipino-Chinese couple. His father had been a successful businessman, well-known within the local Chinese community. His mother had been content to play the good wife and mother, keeping the family together while her spouse brought in enough money to ensure that all of them were comfortable. Things spiraled out of control after his father was victimized by a shoot and run in the parking lot of one of his offices. Henry’s mother, stricken by grief, went completely out of control and began to look for solace in the arms of other men. Disgusted, Henry walked out at the age of eighteen.
After about a year on the streets, Henry was reunited with his father, who had come back to the Prime Material Plane as a ghost. His father was the one who revealed that Henry was actually a werewolf, as he had been. When Henry later went through his First Change, his father was the one who served as his mentor. Eventually, Henry met a group of runaway Uratha like himself in Antipolo. Their gang got involved with the underground cage fighting scene, and committed petty crimes around the metropolis to get by. It was not too long before their gang caught the attention of Anino, and Methuselah operatives brought the entire group in for questioning. Henry stepped up in defense of his “brads”, and agreed to join Anino in order to let the rest of the gang walk. Aidan Clayce agreed on several conditions: that the rest of the gang keep themselves out of trouble, and that Henry enrolls at Ateneo de Manila University beyond training as one of his Hunters.
Suffice to say, Henry was hardly an ideal student or Hunter. By 24, he had only managed to reach the Sixth Circle within Anino, and was passing Ateneo by the skin of his teeth and with a lot of delays due to several failing marks and suspensions for bad behavior. Interestingly enough, this was the main reason why Aidan assigned Henry to the Rockin’ Rollas, with a specific request to take care of then novice operative An’yu Oyama: he had hoped that, by forcing Henry into a position of responsibility, the young werewolf would learn to shape up faster. This is precisely what happened, but at a great cost.
Henry was the one who helped An’yu contact Lily, a Galateid that – while independent from the Methuselah – had contributed much to the Vigil by offering sanctuary to any of the Created who happened to make their way to her sanctuaries. Henry’s arrogance forced Lily’s hand, and she ended up healing his eye (he had lost it during the firefight that had brought Anino’s operatives down on his gang) using a powerful Transmutation. Doing that, however, disrupted the spiritual connections that Henry possessed as an Uratha, and made him incapable of perceiving the ghost of his father. This was a wake-up call for Henry, especially since Lily ended up taking herself out of “the Game” of the Fifth World, thus destabilizing Anino’s relations with local Created.
In an effort to redeem himself and find a way to restore his spiritual connections, Henry stopped rebelling against the very conspiracy that had took him in and applied himself with genuine fervor to guiding the novices within his blade. The young werewolf aided his comrades within the Rockin’ Rollas with his research, and also supported Wolf’s Choice and the Pack with their own investigations. It was not too long before his superiors started trusting him again, just as Henry started, once more, to believe in himself. He later followed the rest of his blade mates into Netsach, and the relationships that he had developed between the Hunters that had fought with him the most eventually led him towards a private engagement within Sagada, where he – together with Big Balete, one of the three Alphas of the Lodge of the Vigil within the Philippines – restored his spiritual connections and helped the ghost of his father ascend.
A few other things helped put Henry back on track. First, he ended up joining the Lodge of the Vigil, and became the Lodge’s point person with regard to cleaning up the Canadian Rockies. Second, he encountered his Shadow within the Unnamed Tower, and conquered his own self-doubt over his actual reasons for being a Hunter and trying to take the lead in everything – this was later followed up by the sacrifice he made on the 195th, another challenge that he also overcame on his own merit. Third, he won the trust of Tatlo Santino – owner of Tatlo’s Abubot – and successfully saved the Abubot by becoming the ex-Hunter’s first and only student, a valuable reliquary and enchanted items shop, from dying along with Tatlo. Fourth, he seized control of his father’s businesses and made amends with his mother, and eventually ended up introducing her to Tatlo, the man she would end up marrying. Fifth, he learned to trust other Hunters and aided many of his comrades with their personal business prior to the final fight against Nyx. The end of 2012 saw a steadier, more mature Henry that had filled into the leadership positions that he used to be so keen on taking, even if it was clear that he could not handle it for himself.
Henry retired from active hunting duty at Liyab in 2016, the year of Tatlo Santino’s death. Tatlo had named him as his successor, and Henry was keenly interested in curating the Abubot as an independent party, to better service the different conspiracies of the world. Henry’s Abubot (thus renamed) was fully operational all across the globe midway through the First Reforms.
In a fashion similar to Franco del Vega, Henry did not actively participate in the major operations that took place during the Darkest Vigil. His contributions came in the form of manning the Abubot, and directing the salvage, recovery, research and smithing teams under his command. He also extended his personal aid to the Lodge of the Vigil of Liyab, even though he elected to become the Beta of the pack instead (he trusted Cen Profaci to do a better job than he would, especially since his attentions were primarily on the Abubot).
After the Armistice at Blaece, Henry returned the “headquarters” of the Abubot to Greenhills, at the very spot that Tatlo’s own shop had been.
CURRENT STATUS
Still based in Metro Manila, and still shuttling between maintaining the Lim Residences within the country as safe houses for Keepers of the Vigil (something his mother used to do for Netsach before she passed away) and the Abubot in Greenhills. There are rumors floating around about his possible return to active duty in light of some interesting movements within today’s Vigil.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Henry’s boisterous personality, almost overbearing bravado and notably reckless actions could be viewed as an attempt to project as intimidating and as “cool” of an image as possible in order to disguise the crippling anxiety that Henry used to feel over his own position. He wrestled often with his own demons, and went through his teenage and university years believing that he was only as good as the next “big thing” that he pulled on other people. Inherently, he actually believed that he had no real worth beyond providing his betters with a constant source of entertainment, and immediately shied away from any attempts at actually understanding him or getting serious about the Vigil, or life in general.
At present, however, Henry appears to have settled well into his own skin. After consistently biting off more than he could chew and constantly having into lie in a messy, metaphorical bed of his own making, Henry now plays the trickster and charismatic team captain in order to put other people at ease. His is a firm, solid presence in the background, content to take a step back and give his all in the direction of aiding people whom he feels, indeed, are greater than himself and worthy of his respect.
THREAT LEVEL
COMMENDABLE/NON-FACTOR. Commendable as Henry’s skills are on the battlefield, it has long been established that his true forte can be seen at the negotiations table or within a smith or R&D laboratory. Henry alone controls the Abubot, the Vigil’s largest reliquary. While he has expressed no intention of ever abandoning the cause, it is important to maintain positive relations with the Inquisitor to ensure that losing his support remains a distant possibility.

ELIAS’ NOTES
- Approach Inquisitor Lim re: succession, Henry’s Abubot. He appears to have no romantic interests whatsoever, and has yet to mention students of note. High priority, find the soonest possible means of broaching the topic. A repeat of the Abubot’s situation in 2012 would both be ironic and entirely undesirable.
And until he has a successor, make sure he doesn’t return to active duty. If he’s going to be as wild as he was in 2012…
