HISTORY
Until he became an operative of Anino, David Young was, unapologetically, a rebel without a cause. He refused to bend to the wishes of his parents (that he take over Christopher Young’s business and take care of his mother), and – in an act of open defiance – joined the Kanto Boys, a small-time gang in Laguna. He ended up getting killed during a fight with a rival gang, but – typical to how things go with Cards – did not become aware of it until his fateful trip to Mapayapa Village. He met Elias Tagabigay, Tala Vega, Bonnie Rivers and Vincenzo Profaci there, and unwittingly aided the Methuselah in their dismantling of Alejandro Raura’s operations in the area. The first thing he did as soon as Aidan took him into the conspiracy was uncover the truth behind his death, and take his Second Breath as a Fool.

David threw himself into his duties as a Keeper of the Vigil at full throttle, and – ironically – becoming a Hunter gave him more focus, and matured him in ways that would not have been possible if he had never died. He reconciled with his parents, eventually took control of Wolf’s Choice – his blade – as one of its leaders, aided his comrades with their own engagements, and furthered the Methuselah’s cause all the way up until it become clear to him, as it was clear to his friends, that the conspiracy was not worth serving. He also met Mica Torillo, the girl he saved by sacrificing half of his life to Igor in the Velvet Room, and ended up falling in love with her. The two were together by the time their blades left the Methuselah, and joined Netsach.

It’s also important to note that David began to get close to Jessiah Vice, the CEO of Vice Enterprises and a Card like himself. He started out as one of Jessie’s personal assistants, and later became one of the man’s closest friends and most trusted comrades, especially after David learned all about Jessie’s past and the fact that Diurmund, his Persona, had once belonged to Minato Arisato. Another part of the reason why he decided to go back to his family and learn the skills that he needed in order to control Young Incorporated in the future was because he wanted to help Jessie out.

David was instrumental in Minato’s recovery, in Netsach’s negotiations with the Order of the Grateful Dead (he did, in fact, serve as Jessie’s representative during their first major gathering), and in the negotiations that Kaizen Tempesta headed as a part of Netsach’s preparations to take Cersei – Winter – down. He also managed to fully restore the years that he had lost in order to restore Mica’s life with Tala Vega’s help. He proposed to her, as planned, after the two of them survived the final fight.

David, acting on Jessiah Vice’s orders, left for the United Kingdom directly after Operation Nyx. Jessie hoped to pre-empt any damage that would inevitably be caused by the Breaking of the Veil, and needed someone to take over the British Chapter of the Order of the Grateful Dead – a move that would allow Jessie to focus on Vice Enterprises, the Methuselah, and Netsach. Ayame, Jessie’s original pick, had decided to build Rhiannon Group into a proper compact. Bart, the next best bet, wanted to help his cousin out. That left David. It took him five years to rise to the top.

Upon returning to the Philippines, David married Mica Torillo, and immediately dove into expanding Young Incorporated for his family, and for Liyab. He waited for about twenty-five years, balancing Young Incorporated with his work for the Grateful Dead, the Methuselah, and Netsach, before turning the company over to Janet Young, his younger sister. This put him in the perfect position to move on to his next achievement: succeeding Nicholas Go as the CEO of Vice Enterprises, Philippines. He accomplished this in under four years, which allowed him to devote the rest of his energies to running the company and to aiding in anti-Grendal operations in Southeast Asia and in Europe.

CURRENT STATUS
Suffice to say, David was an incredibly busy man all the way until the Armistice at Blaece. These past three years are perhaps the first time in more than half a century that he’s settling down.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
David is, in many ways, the perfect embodiment of the Triumph that he represents. The Fool is all about dwelling in the moment, embracing new experiences, and laughing in the face of adversity. They are the people who believe that there are no problems, only temporary obstacles. They are the trailblazers who – when realizing that there does not appear to be any viable solutions – aim to make one for themselves.

As things stand, David’s unshakeable confidence in himself and his unquestionable devotion to his friends and family are his strongest suits. He is a simple man with simple desires, and the means to get just about any job done. In many ways, he also serves as the moral compass of Wolf’s Choice, and their one man cheering squad. Many of his blade mates are prone to indecision, or get too lost in the joys of the Hunt. David makes it a point to be available for them, and remind them that at the end of the day, they are human with human concerns, and that is perfectly acceptable.

THREAT LEVEL
COMMENDABLE/NON-FACTOR. David is one of the few Cards in existence that has almost completely mastered the Minor Arcana. He is also a member of the Wiseman’s Committee – the group that determines, as a whole, the direction of today’s Vigil – and an influential figure within international corporate politics. Nevertheless, he appears to understand the needs of Pax Deorum at the moment, and has proven, time and again, to be loyal to the world government’s cause.

ELIAS’ NOTES
“Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway.” Never change, old friend.
